Randy Ray Poston

Randy Ray Poston, 60, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 7:55 am September 19, 2025 at his home. He was born February 15, 1965 in Nashville, Tennessee to Larry and Kaye (Lowery) Poston. Randy married Cindy (Russell) Poston on May 27, 1985. They were blessed with 40 years of marriage.

In addition to his beloved wife and parents, Randy is survived by his sons, Robert Poston and Richard "Rick" Poston, both of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Blake Poston, Shane Poston, and Laila Poston, all of Highland, Illinois; siblings, Angie Blackford and husband, Greg of Mount Vernon and Ryan Poston and wife, Blythe of Maryville, Illinois; mother-in-law, Sue Russell of Bluford, Illinois; sister-in-law, Angela "Jean" Barbee and husband, Rick of O'Fallon, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

Randy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul and Dorothy Lowery and Fred and Myrtle Poston; father-in-law, George Russell; and several cousins.

Randy was a faithful member of Central Christian Church, where he served on the praise team. He had a passion for music and loved to play the guitar and bass. At Central, Randy and Cindy helped with the middle school and high school children. He enjoyed sharing his love of music with the youth. When his children were younger, Randy was active in Boy Scouts. He enjoyed woodworking and watch-making in his spare time. Randy was loved deeply by his family and friend. He will be missed.

A Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 23, 2025 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 pm with Mr. Jon Henniger officiating. Interment will follow at East Hickory Hill in Bluford, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Randy's honor to the Poston Family, in care of Cindy Poston.
