Randy D. Sachs, 68, passed away unexpectedly, but surrounded by family on Thursday, August 1, 2024. He was born on November 4, 1955 to Margarette (Wehner) and Wilbur Sachs, living his entire life in Monroe. He was baptized and confirmed at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church where he attended elementary school and was a lifelong member. He was a 1974 graduate of Monroe High School.
On October 20, 1979 he married the love of his life, Therese Szuma at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. They were blessed with 44 years of marriage and three daughters. He worked at Wickes Lumber for over 30 years starting in the lumber yard and later going on to manage the Heating, Plumbing and Electrical Department. He later worked as a designer at Finishers Unlimited until his retirement in 2022.
He turned his hobby of woodworking into a small business, Grandpa's Clocks, which he started with two friends, handcrafting clocks, rocking horses, and a variety of other projects. He gained his builders license early on and used his skills to proudly design and build his family home which resides on his grandparent's property.
Randy was a devoted husband, father, papa, son, brother, and uncle. He was a pillar of strength and support, known for his unwavering love and commitment to his family and friends. He was loved by many that extended beyond his immediate circle, reflecting his generous spirit. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He found great joy in hosting events that brought his loved ones together, organizing memorable Fourth of July parties, cookouts, and Christmas gatherings. He was a passionate University of Michigan football fan. He also took pride in maintaining a meticulous lawn and enjoyed spending his free time outdoors or working on home improvement projects. He fiercely loved his children and grandchildren, who regarded him as their hero. His legacy of warmth, guidance and dedication will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
