Rawling Eugene Hersey, III, of King William County, entered into eternal rest on August 22, 2025. Known lovingly as "Bob" to family and friends, he was born in Massachusetts on July 21, 1943. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Forrestal during the Vietnam War, and later in the United States Army Reserves. Following his military service, he worked as a truck driver for more than 20 years, a career that reflected his strong work ethic and love of the open road. Outside of work, Bob found joy in simple pleasures-fishing on a quiet day, camping with loved ones, riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and settling in to watch his favorite black-and-white John Wayne movies. His sense of humor and presence will be missed. Bob is survived by his children: Andria Hersey Houghton (Jeff), John Hersey (Yvahn), Jennifer Hersey (Russell), Crystal Rammell (Nathan), and George Hersey (Tiffany). He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Tyler Hersey (Renae), James Hersey, Eva Hersey, Jaszmyne Fowler, Jayda Fowler, Jescika Fowler, Collin Brewster (Emma), Justin Andres, as well as two great-grandchildren, Miles Hersey and Colton Brewster. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Tunnel To Towers Foundation or the Wounded Warrior Project, honoring Bob's service and legacy.
