Ray King Obituary
Ray King passed away December 24, 2023, at his home in Mt. Vernon, IN. at the age of 79. Ray was born January 31, 1944, in Mt. Vernon, IN. to the late Raymond M. & Alice (Darnell) King.
Ray graduated from Mt. Vernon Senior High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy for four years, during the Cuban Missile Crisis on the U.S.S Robert K. Huntington. Then in 1966 he married Judy Bauman and had three children. After working several jobs, he went to General Electric in Mt. Vernon and worked in maintenance and retired after 27 years there. Ray loved his family most of all and loved the outdoors. You would never find him without a project, working on, or building something.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy; three children; Brett (Jane) King, Kevin (Jennifer D.) King, Kim (Eric) Cross; 7 grandchildren, Jacob King, Holly Rowland, Amber King, Kevin King, Justin Stevens, Lindsey Cuellar, Madison Kaufman; 12 Great-grandchildren, Mason, Waylon, Kai, Luke, Collin, Andrew, and Ellie, Ryatt, Denver, Dawson, George, and Trevor; brother, Rev. Dennis (Marilyn) King; sisters, Greta (Lyndel) Littlepage, Anita (Dale) Schneider, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Alice King, nephew Justin Christmas, and his best fur friend and companion, Chloe.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, December 29, 2023, at Denning Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, with Rev. Dennis King and Rev. Dallas Robinson Officiating. Burial will follow at Bellefontaine Cemetery with Military rites by the Owen Dunn American Legion honor guard. Visitation will take place from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the family for expenses.
