Funeral services for Ray Charles Martin will be held Monday, May 12, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Bro. David Addy, Bro. Danny Sephton and Bro. Larry Saxton. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery in Carthage. Visitation will be held Monday, May 12, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until service time at McClain-Hays Funeral Home.
Ray Charles Martin, 77, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2025, surrounded by family and friends.
Ray was a resident of Leake County in the Ebenezer Community for his entire life until his death. He was a former owner of Martin Logging and Martin Cattle Farms. He and his wife still until this day raise chickens for Peco Farms Inc. Mr. Martin was a member of and a deacon at Sunrise Baptist Church and was ordained as a deacon at New Prospect Baptist Church. He won numerous Performance awards in poultry and cattle farming.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 58 years, Nancy Kilpatrick Martin; sons, Greg Martin, Jeff Martin and Yancy Martin (Brittany); grandchildren, Summer Flake (Clay), Garrett Martin, Daniel Gilbert (Brittany), Chloe Hester (Logan) and Cassidy Martin; great grandchildren, Colby Gilbert and Jax Gilbert; sister, Betty Jordan (Gerald); brother, Danny Pat Martin (Kay); a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many friends.
Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Kermit Charles Martin and Mary Moore Martin; sister, Kathy Cumberland.
Pallbearers: Logan Hester, Danny Wilcher, Eric Martin, Zack Martin, Wes Turner, Brad Martin, Robert Jordan and Cole Martin.
