He was born on June 26, 1933, in Utica, the son of George F. and Mildred (Murphy) Baechle. He was a graduate of Utica Free Academy.
Ray proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force from December 1, 1950, to April 19, 1954.
He was employed by Camden Wire as a night watchman for many years.
He loved cats, fishing, and crossword puzzles. He enjoyed bluegrass music and playing the guitar.
Surviving are his daughter, Linda Hurwitz, of Camden; a granddaughter, Laurie Bryson; three great-grandchildren, Ashley Mailloux, Steven Allen, and Jason McGuinness; one great great-grandson, Greyson McGuinness; a brother, Gary (Karen) Baechle, of Alexandria Bay; a nephew, Gary Almas; and two nieces, Carla and Christine. Ray was predeceased by the mother of his daughter, Ethel M. Grass; a brother, Robert P. "Bob" Baechle; a sister, Mary Almas; a nephew, Scott Almas; and two nieces, Karen Baechle and Andrea Baechle.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
