Raymond Allen Baker, 79 years old, of Cynthiana Kentucky, died Saturday, January 4th 2025 of a long time illness.
Raymond was born in Robertson County, Kentucky on July 10, 1945 to the late John and Ida Pearl Baker. From early on Raymond knew the importance of a hard day's work and worked for many farming families throughout the area since he was old enough to work. Many farmer's would bargain and negotiate to get to him first to help in their tobacco crops, for he was heavily courted because of his work ethic and speed. He also was proud of his work with Woodhead funeral home laboring through rain, snow and blistering heat and freezing cold, muck and mud to help care for those who had come to bury their loved ones, as a grave digger.
Raymond also liked to work on small engines and would always have a project he was working on. In previous years he was always very proud of his large gardens and had a green thumb to grow most anything with great success. He also was an avid knife and bottle collector, loved frequenting flea markets, thrift stores and garage sales to add to his collection.
He is survived by his children; Howard Wayne Ritchie of Paris, KY, Nancy Jean of Arizona, Raymond Allen Baker Jr. of Pulaski County, KY and Mark Lynn Baker of Sunrise, KY Grandson Aaron (Kayla) Ritchie of Paris, KY and great granddaughter Sophia.
Also surviving are his brothers: Roy (Patty) Baker, Ralph Baker, Ricky Baker all of Cynthiana and Olden Wayne Baker of Sunrise, KY Sister-in-laws, Sue Baker and Mary Baker, both of Cynthiana. Also a special niece and nephew Jeremy (Lynn) Baker of Paris, KY and Julie (Steve) Thacker of Lexington. Several other niece, nephews, and cousins also survive.
He is preceded in death by his sisters Anna Lou Staggs, Ruby Crosswell, Mary Kathleen Baker and his brothers Gene Baker, David Baker, Bob Baker, Richard Baker, Earl Baker, and George Baker
