Steven Morgan Medlin, Jr., 99, of Berry, KY, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born at the original Harrison Memorial Hospital on Pike Street in Cynthiana, on December 8, 1925, to the late Lucinda Sowder and Steven Morgan Medlin, Sr. He was a farmer, and a factory worker for over 20 years at Kawneer and later at Eaton Foundary. He was the oldest member at the Riverview Baptist Church and was extremely proud that was able to spend his entire life on the family farm in Berry.
"I'm a simple man" was how he often described himself, but those who knew him best experience so much more. He was more than just a jack of all trades; he was a master at anything he put his hand to. Whether it was working in his garden or tending his orchard, running a bulldozer or building a pond, Steve loved being outdoors. He was a skilled carpenter, who built several houses, and also could do about any job that needed to be done. He was always willing to help his neighbors and family when they were in need. His legacy of hard work and compassion will continue to live on.
On February 15, 1953, he was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Henderson Medlin, and his dear wife of 72 years survives his passing. Steve is also survived by his children: Katheryn (Gordon) Pope, Larry (Donna) Medlin, Wayne (Regina) Medlin, and Mark (Trina) Medlin; Grandchildren Stephanie Pope (Eric) Martinez, Jonathan Pope, Steven Morgan Medlin, Jenna Mae Medlin, Joshua (Crystal) Medlin; great-grandchildren Izabella, Griffin, Atum, and Penelope; Brother-in-law George (Susan) Rose and Sister-in-law Linda (the late Bill) Henderson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his siblings Betty Enzweiler, Gary Medlin, and Roy Medlin, along with his grandsons Timothy Waylon Medlin and Jordon Trent Medlin.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to all those who called, visited, and supported them through this difficult time. A special thank you to Bluegrass Care Navigators for their compassion and care.
Funeral services for Steve will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 12:00PM at the Woodhead Funeral Home in Berry. Visitation will take place from 10:30AM-12:00 preceding the service. Pallbearers are Steven Medlin, Josh Medlin, Anthony Williams, Jonathan Pope, Connor Rose, and Jenna Mae Medlin. Honorary pallbearers are Richard Thompson, Billy Kendall, A.C. Wright, M.D. and Bradley Purcell. Steve's final resting place will be the Pythian Grove Cemetery in Berry. A celebration of life meal will take place after the graveside service at the Berry Christian Church.
