Raymond Leroy Banfield, age 79 of Martinsville, Indiana and formerly of Gosport and Bloomington passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Wellbrooke of Crawfordsville. He was born in Linton, Indiana on July 19, 1946, to the late Ray & Oleta (Anderson) Banfield.
Raymond was a journeyman/lineman for 50 years at Union local #1393 and Local #9. He was a member and elder at New Salem Church in Gosport, Indiana. He enjoyed gardening, baking, mowing his yard, going to church, building powerlines, and drinking his sweet tea.
He is survived by his four children, Joe (Nicole) Banfield, Michelle (Dave) Dwenger, Chrissy (TJ) John and Jeffrey Banfield; eleven grandchildren, Joey (Kristin) Banfield, Corina (Justin) Harkelroad, Garrett John, Gavin (Liz) John, Britteny (Gilbert) Lopez, Heather (Cody) Fisher, Patricia (Eddie II) Adkins, Edward Banfield, Josie Banfield, Freedom Banfield, and Mercy Banfield; 13 great-grandchildren, Drake Harkelroad, Isaiah Harkelroad, Lilly Harkelroad, Caroline Banfield, Josie Banfield, Julian Lopez, Caylen Lopez, Nikole Adkins, Oliver Adkins, Avacyn Helser, Dominic Fisher, Korbin Fisher, and Kendal Fisher; a sister-in-law, Pattie Banfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerry Banfield.
Cremation was chosen with a Celebration of Life at SCI REMC, 300 S Morton Ave, Martinsville, IN 46151 on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at 4:00pm . Memorial donations may be given in Raymonds memory to Project Indiana, 11805 Pennsylvania Street, Carmel, IN 46032 or you may donate online at www.projectindiana.org/support.
