June Kay Shelton, age 82 formerly of Crawfordsville, passed away on August 10, 2025 at The Waters of Maryville in Tennessee. She was born on April 15, 1943 in Crawfordsville. Kay was lovingly raised by her mother, Mary Jane Noreene (Richards) Adams and stepfather, Max Kenneth Adams.
Kay married Lonnie H. Shelton on September 9, 1960 in Corinth, Mississippi, spending almost 65 loving years together until his passing in 2023.
She was a business manager at the Journal Review for several years. After retirement, she continued working for Lake Holiday as their business manager. Kay was a longtime member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Crawfordsville and served the church family by cleaning the building weekly. She was an excellent seamstress and also enjoyed crocheting potholders for the family. Kay loved baking cookies and lemon cakes for her grandchildren. In her younger years, she went camping with her sisters. Kay was a beloved grandmother, and they were her pride and joy.
Kay is survived by her three sons, James (Laurie) Shelton, Joseph (Paula) Shelton and Jonathon Shelton; seven grandchildren, Jacqueline Shelton-Fiore, Katherine Shelton, Kimberly Fiorentino, Candice Edgington, Emily Shelton, Sierra Shelton, and Chance Shelton; ten great grandchildren, Korbin, Kaylee, Logan, Cooper, Ripley, Savannah, Xavier, Madison, Joshua Jr., and Violet; and a brother, Larry Fields.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lonnie; granddaughter, Chloe Shelton; and sister, Patricia Plank; and brother, Mac Adams.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Sanders Funeral Care, 315 S Washington Street in Crawfordsville from 2:00 pm until the time of the service at 4:00 pm. Burial will follow at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery outside of New Market. Share memories and condolences at www.SandersFuneralCare.com.
