It is with great sadness that the family of Raymond Byrley announce his passing.
Raymond (Ray) Byrley, 72, of Bethalto, IL, died on 7/7/24. He was born in Alton, IL in 1952 to Margaret (Miller) Byrley and Rush Byrley. In 1970, Ray graduated from Roxana High School and married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn (Susie) Byrley. She was his one and only true love. He was employed as a supervisor at Alton Box Board which later became the Jefferson Smurfit Corporation. He was with them until they closed the factory. He then became a supervisor at Amsted Rail and retired in 2019.
For those who knew Ray, all would agree that he was a fun spirited guy and truly enjoyed spending time with the people he loved. He was always up for a round of cards, good music, pool volleyball, driving fast cars, and having a fun night of karaoke with his friends and family. We will all deeply cherish the moments we shared with Ray- Ray.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marilyn (Susie) Byrley; daughter Karen Byrley; three sisters Sally Ramage, Jacquelin Hellrung, and Rebecca Kelly.
Surviving are his daughters, Lori Reams and Lisa Reifsteck (Charlie); Ray is also survived by grandchildren Austin Reams (Cara), Alex Reams, Samantha Reifsteck, and Allyson Yamnitz (Dustin); Sister-in-laws Carolyn Nolan and Vicki Hinton (Mike), and nieces and nephews.
