Raymond E. Chatigny, 90, of Westminster, died peacefully Monday, November 18, 2024, in UMass Memorial HealthAlliance Hospital, Leominster, after a brief illness.
Born in Gardner on August 6, 1934, he was the son of the late Walter and Ruth (St. John) Chatigny. He graduated from Fitchburg High School with the Class of 1952. Raymond started his career in the gun industry at Iver Johnson in Worcester. He also worked as a mechanic at Burt’s Garage in Westminster where he became a certified Harley-Davidson mechanic. Raymond was a Senior Vice President employed by Harrington & Richardson (H&R) of Gardner for over 40 years before his retirement. Raymond also served as an Auxiliary Police Officer for the Town of Westminster.
Raymond was a parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor Church of Westminster. He was a long-time member of Ducks Unlimited, the Gardner Fish and Gun Club, and the Leominster Sportsman Club. Raymond enjoyed operating HAM Radios, working on his family genealogy, and riding and racing motorcycles. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. Raymond’s greatest joy was his family, treasuring the time spent with them.
Raymond is survived by his children, Donna Muller and her husband Robert Jr. of Fairfield, CT, Scott Chatigny and his wife Jodie of Westminster, Shelley Burgess of Fitchburg; six grandchildren, Matthew Burdulis and his wife Maura of Holden, Arielle Burdulis of Colorado Springs, CO, Tyler Chatigny and his wife MacKenzie of Westminster, Michael Chatigny of Brighton, Chloe Chatigny of Newport, RI, Hayden Chatigny of Westminster; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased and reunited with his loving wife of 69 years, Leona I. (LeBlanc) Chatigny, who died on October 19, 2024; a daughter, Mary Ann Chatigny; and his two siblings, Walter Chatigny Jr. and Marylyn Niemi.
Calling Hours will be held Saturday, November 23, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Funeral Services will follow at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Ellis Road, Westminster, MA.
