Raymond Chorba Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Raymond Arthur Chorba, 93, of Hockessin, Delaware died peacefully at Cokesbury Village on October 22, 2025. He was born in Braddock, Pennsylvania in 1932 to Michael and Mary Ando Chorba, and was raised in New Kensington, Pennsylvania. Ray was married to Ann Baxter Chorba for 53 years before her death in 2010.

Ray attended New Kensington High School before graduating in 1953 from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He had a long career with the DuPont Company, starting in 1953 until his retirement in 1997, spending most of that time at Chambers Works, NJ and Dupont's then-newly built plant near Corpus Christi, TX. Ray was an avid golfer, baseball fan and gardener, as well as an accomplished piano player. He loved spending time with family and travel, and combined those loves with annual trips to his favorite vacation spot at Pawleys Island, SC. He was an active member of Hockessin United Methodist Church for over 30 years. All who knew him remember his contagious smile and welcoming spirit.

Ray is survived by his children Judy Bauserman (Greg) of Fairfax, VA, Dr. Nancy Chorba of Richmond, VA, David Chorba (Linda) of Langhorne, PA, and Michael Chorba (Maria) of Little River, SC; his five grandchildren Jim, David, Marena, Wesley and Laura, and his sister Virginia Costantino of Torrance, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Dorothy Biddle, Robert Chorba, and Nancy Scibilia.

Ray's family would like to express its gratitude to the wonderful, caring Cokesbury Village staff, especially the team at Willowbrooke Court and Acts Hospice who brought him comfort and joy in his final year of life.
