Robert Stackpole Obituary

Robert Dauer Stackpole, 79, a resident of Jefferson Manor in Brookville, passed away October 17, 2025.
He was born August 14, 1946, in Pittsburgh, son of the late Harrison Clinton and Murial Beatrice Dauer Stackpole. Dauer was a graduate of Mercersburg Academy and continued his education at the University of Pittsburgh and pursued his post-graduate studies at Bucknell University. Following his years of schooling, Dauer was employed in the marketing department of Stackpole Carbon Company from 1972-1982.
On April 11, 1987, in St. Agnes Episcopal Church, he married Lucy Geiger Irvin, who survives. In addition to his wife, Dauer is survived by a daughter, Daisy Stackpole (Erik); a sister, Laurey Turner; and a brother, Scott Stackpole.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Jane Stackpole.
Dauer was a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he received several combat awards and the Bronze Star as a member of the 1st Air Calvary Infantry Division. Following his role in Stackpole Carbon Company, Dauer moved to Charleston, SC where he established several new business ventures in that area. Dauer gave generously and was proud of the legacy that his family had established. He would often be found participating in several softball leagues in the St. Marys region in his younger years and was past chairman of the board for the Stackpole-Hall Foundation. His service to the Stackpole-Hall Foundation spanned more than five decades. He was first elected a trustee in 1974 and became Chairman of the Board in 2007. Dauer will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him, work alongside him, and be inspired by his kindness.

Just learned of Dauer´s passing. I wil always cherish the memories of our times together, especially on the ball field and our travels through Europe by rail in `71. Rest in Peace "El Dd".

Lucy & Daisy - I am so sorry for your loss. Dauer was a special person in my life and a great friend. He was especially kind to people in need, putting his own interests above his. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
