Raymond Eaves Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 14, 2022.
We celebrate the life and passing of Raymond Harry Eaves. He passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, January 11, 2022.
Raymond was born January 30, 1941 in Hobbs, NM. He spent his childhood there and graduated from Hobbs High School in 1959. As a young man, he spent several years at ENMU in Portales, NM. After which, he was a member of the 82nd Airborne, and became a paratrooper in 1961. After serving his country, Raymond decided to attend Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX. He was fortunate enough to join his dad, Harry Raymond Eaves, founder of X-Pert Well Service in Hobbs. While there, he was instrumental in providing athletic scholarships to students in Lea County. During these years in Hobbs, he was also actively involved in the community which included serving with the March of Dimes, Chamber of Commerce, and on the board of Moncor Bank. He continued his work with X-Pert after moving to Midland, TX where he resided for several years. Raymond enjoyed following his mother, Gwendolyn Eaves' footsteps in the racing industry. Not only did he have several race horses, but he also served on the NM Racing Commission. The next chapter of his life included raising black angus cattle in Aubrey, Texas. While there he also continued his ventures in oilfield well testing. In 2011, he and his wife Barbara moved to Austin, TX. Over the years, Raymond enjoyed playing golf, flying his airplane, spending time with his family and doting on his fur babies. And, we mustn't forget all the fun he had in Vegas and his luck on the slots!
Raymond Eaves is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, sister Sandra and husband Randy Geisleman of Midland, TX, and their daughter Meredith Copeland, husband Rob, and children Allen and Mimi Cate of Edmond, OK, and son, Jason Geisleman of Bellingham, WA. Also surviving are children Courtney Eaves Carter and husband David of Austin, TX, Julie Clem of Aubrey, TX, and Brooke Vadala and husband Chris of Austin, TX. Surviving grandchildren are Matthew and Victoria Carter, Bryson and Garrett Clem, Reese Wilson, and Russell and Isabella Vadala. A memorial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his honor at www.hospice austin.org.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cook-Walden Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.dignitymemorial.com
