Raymond Michael Estrada, 60, of Austin, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 17, 2025.
Born in Long Beach, California, and raised in San Diego, Raymond was deeply connected to his Point Loma community and the lifelong friendships he so carefully nurtured. He graduated from San Diego State University and later earned an executive certificate from the University of Texas at Austin's LBJ School of Public Affairs.
Raymond was known for his love of cars, soccer, dogs, and his steadfast faith in God. He carried himself with the calm confidence of "Cool Hand Luke." Beneath his quiet demeanor was a big heart, a sharp wit, and an unfailing loyalty that made him a true and trusted friend. A proud advocate for Latino rights and the Catholic Church, Raymond was always willing to help those in need-and his family and friends could always count on hearing from him on their birthdays.
A lifelong sports fan, Raymond stood by the Chargers through thick and thin-until their move to Los Angeles. His professional journey reflected both versatility and excellence, taking him to several cities he came to call home. He began his career with Anheuser-Busch in San Diego, also serving in Houston and Chicago. He joined ECG, the family's marketing and communications agency, and most recently served the State of Texas as Director of Public Information for the Board of Pardons and Paroles.
Raymond enjoyed golf-proudly claiming an 18 handicap and was known for his smooth and "monster" drives on the course. Always impeccably dressed, he was recognized for his signature bow ties, crisp sneakers, bright smile, and unmistakable charm.
Above all, Raymond's life was grounded in faith. He was devoted to praying the rosary, and as a devoted member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, he served as a homebound eucharistic minister and co-founded the Austin Diocese's Hispanic Catholic Leadership Summits. He also found joy in simple acts of care, whether offering friendship, prayer, or a bowl of his acclaimed spaghetti and meatballs.
Raymond is survived by his mother, Sandra Garcia-Leeds of St. Louis, MO; father, Jim Estrada of Austin, TX; brother, Ron & wife Roxana Estrada; brother, David Leeds; nephews, Nicolas & wife Lara Estrada, and Daniel Estrada.
He will be remembered for his faith, kindness, loyalty, and the warmth he brought to every room he entered.
