Raymond D. “Mike” Ewing, 92, of East Moline, Illinois, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2025, at home with his loving family by his side.

Graveside services are Noon on Thursday, December 11, at Rock Island National Cemetery, where the Moline American Legion Post #246 will present military honors. Those wishing to attend are invited to meet in the parking lot at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, between 11:30 and 11:45 a.m. The family will greet friends at Franks Pizza in Silvis immediately following burial. Memorials may be made to any VFW, Disabled American Veterans, local food bank, or Project NOW.

Raymond Donald Ewing was born December 23, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Raymond Dewey and Grace (Depietro) Ewing. He graduated from Moline High School, where he was a standout football and basketball player. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, spending time in Germany and also playing football while in the service.

He married the love of his life, Norma Jean Ferrier, on June 22, 1955, in Moline. Their nearly 70 years of marriage were built on deep love for each other and a shared kindness that touched everyone around them. Norma passed away on November 21, 2024.

Mike worked in the sheet metal and HVAC industry for most of his career, lending his skill and strong work ethic to QC Sheet Metal, Gabrilson, Johnson, Brooke Company, and others.

He was an avid sports fan his entire life, especially of the Chicago Bears, Cubs and NASCAR. He also enjoyed bowling and the outdoors—fishing, hunting, boating, and water-skiing brought him joy for many decades. He loved being around family, always looking forward to the next reunion or family get-together. He was a kind, steady presence, always ready to help anyone in need, and will be remembered as a man who could fix absolutely anything—often in his own creative and unconventional way.

Mike is survived by his four children, Christine DeLaRosa of East Moline, Cindy (Bernie) McMahon of Kirkland, Washington, Linda (John) Elliff of East Moline, and David Ewing of East Moline; grandchildren, Andrea DeLaRosa, Tony (Sandra) DeLaRosa, Lindsey (Joe) Gonzales, Elizabeth (Dan) Ingersoll, Megan McMahon, Zachery McMahon, John Elliff Jr., Joe (Teri) Elliff, James Elliff, and Jason (Em) Elliff; great-grandchildren, Riley Drinkall, Doug Drinkall, Natasha Drinkall, Ivy Ingersoll, DeiRon DeLaRosa, Imani Hadden, Annel Briick, Michael Endreson, Alyssa DeLaRosa, DeMassio DeLaRosa, Gio Gonzales, Gilliana Gonzales, and Angelo Gonzales; great-great-granddaughter, Melani DeLaRosa; and his beloved dog, Rocky. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Norma; and a sister, Rita Southwood.
