Raymond Donald Ewing was born December 23, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Raymond Dewey and Grace (Depietro) Ewing. He graduated from Moline High School, where he was a standout football and basketball player. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, spending time in Germany and also playing football while in the service.
He married the love of his life, Norma Jean Ferrier, on June 22, 1955, in Moline. Their nearly 70 years of marriage were built on deep love for each other and a shared kindness that touched everyone around them. Norma passed away on November 21, 2024.
Mike worked in the sheet metal and HVAC industry for most of his career, lending his skill and strong work ethic to QC Sheet Metal, Gabrilson, Johnson, Brooke Company, and others.
He was an avid sports fan his entire life, especially of the Chicago Bears, Cubs and NASCAR. He also enjoyed bowling and the outdoors—fishing, hunting, boating, and water-skiing brought him joy for many decades. He loved being around family, always looking forward to the next reunion or family get-together. He was a kind, steady presence, always ready to help anyone in need, and will be remembered as a man who could fix absolutely anything—often in his own creative and unconventional way.
