My prayers and thoughts go out to the Fitzmartin family at this difficult time.
As a fellow umpire I've known Ray for 30 years. His love of tennis was unparalleled. He had a great sense of humor which will be missed.
Since he retired from officiating we would speak every couple of month; in fact, I last spoke with Ray in mid-October. Rest In Peace Ray.

It was always a pleasure working collegiate tennis matches and serving on the Board of the Eastern Tennis Umpires Association with Ray. He was always very professional in filling both roles. He will be missed.

Loved sharing umpiring times with Ray. He always had a smile, quip, funny stories. Helped make umpiring a pleasure, especially at Forest Hills and Madison Square Garden where he kept us smiling. Miss his Christmas cards. He was just a good all around guy. Shirley Damiano, a Syracuse fellow umpire
