Raymond Rex Harvell

Raymond Rex Harvell, born on July 27, 1943, in Guilford County, passed away peacefully at his residence on April 16, 2025, at the age of 81. A devoted family man and cherished friend, he leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth. Raymond's early years saw him working at Walker Shoes before he transitioned to a career in the furniture industry. He later embarked on a fulfilling venture with his brother-in-law in the logging business, where they shared many rewarding years together until his retirement from driving a log truck. A long-standing member of Callicutt Chapel Wesleyan Church, Raymond found joy in simple pleasures such as gardening and tending to his yard. His greatest delight was in his roles as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Those who knew him remember his kind spirit and unwavering dedication to his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Rose Reavis Harvell, and sisters, Helen Harvell Hurley and Clara Harvell Willetts. Raymond's memory will be treasured by his loving wife of 64 years, Susie Hurley Harvell; his daughters, Cindy Harvell Finch and husband Wes, of Asheboro, and Sherry Harvell Johnson and husband Scott, of Denton; his special grandson, Colton Reeder and wife May, of Asheboro; and an extra special great-granddaughter, Byrdie Jean Reeder. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Faye Hurley, brother-in-law, Joe Hurley, several nieces and nephews, and his dear fur friend, Bella. The family will hold a private service of remembrance for Raymond at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Raymond's memory to Callicutt Chapel Wesleyan Church, 1100 Horseshoe Bend Road, Troy, NC 27371, or to Hospice of Randolph County, 416 Vision Drive, Asheboro, NC 27203. Raymond will be dearly missed but never forgotten by all who had the fortune of knowing his gentle heart and generous spirit.
