A funeral service for Raymond Bernard Johnson, Sr., 59, of Venus, will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at the Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church, located at 317 North Brazos Avenue, Cleburne, TX 76031 with Pastor Julius Harris officiating. Interment will follow in the Venus Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation for family and friends from 6:00-8:00 PM in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel, located at 512 N Ridgeway Dr., Cleburne, TX 76033 on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.
Raymond B. Johnson, Sr., a beloved figure in his community, passed away on December 30, 2025, in Venus, Texas. He was born on February 5, 1966, in Cleburne, Texas, and lived his life as a devoted Christian and loving patriarch.
Raymond was a man of many passions, but he was especially a diehard Dallas Cowboy fan, a loyalty that he shared fervently with family and friends alike. Those who knew him will remember his outgoing, boisterous nature, his kindness, and his honesty. He was not only known for his handsome smile and dimples, but also the warmth and generosity of his spirit. Raymond was a great provider and protector, ensuring that his loved ones were always cared for and supported. He was described as a mentor and a loyal friend, always available to lend a helping hand.
He received his degree in Business Management from Paul Quinn College. Raymond was a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and a member of the Cleburne Social Club.
In addition to his role as a father and husband, Raymond was cherished by his employees, who appreciated his dedication and genuine concern for their well-being. He worked in retail and production management for over 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Johnson, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Anitra Johnson; his son, Raymond Johnson, Jr.(Rosalyn); daughters, Arnisha Johnson, Ahrein Bennett (Jeremy), Ashley Johnson, and Angel Johnson; his mother, Catherine Johnson; his brother, Kenneth Johnson; sisters, Erma Manning and Curte Baldwin; brothers, Jeremy Johnson and Julian Johnson; six grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Raymond B. Johnson, Sr. will be remembered not only for his enthusiasm for life but also for the profound impact he had on all who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of love, loyalty, and laughter will endure in the hearts of his family and friends.
