Raymond Joseph “Ray” Havlicek was born September 3, 1963, in St Louis, Missouri, to the late George A. and Pauline Manina Havlicek. He passed away at March 17, 2025, at his home in Hammond. Ray was a retired Lieutenant with the Hammond Police Department. After retirement he worked at R. Anderson Roofing Company and was also an investigator at the Livingston Parish Public Defender’s Office. He loved working in the yard and gardening and sharing all of his vegetables with his neighbors. His favorite place to be was at the beach; he loved just sitting on the beach and watching the waves. Ray was a huge sports fan. He especially loved college softball. He loved to grill and cook. For Thanksgiving, he always fried turkeys for everyone in the neighborhood. He is survived by his wife of nearly 34 years, Jane A. Havlicek; his three children, Gabrielle Havlicek, Shelby Havlicek, and Baily Havlicek (Edward LeBlanc); his brother, Michael Havlicek; and his granddogs, Duke and Stitch. Visitation will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, Friday, March 21, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until funeral services at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel conducted by Rev. Steve Miller. Ray will be buried at Our Lady of Pompeii Cemetery in Tickfaw.
