Raymond Marbaker, 71, of Tunkhannock, PA (Mehoopany Twp) passed away at his home on December 29th, 2023 after a lengthy and hard-fought battle with cancer.
He was born in Meshoppen, PA on December 24,1952, the only child of Clifton Marbaker and Betty Wilcox Marbaker. He was a 1971 graduate of Elk Lake High School. While in school, he participated on the wrestling team.
Raymond worked for Wyoming County for several years upon retirement. In his free time, he enjoyed auto racing; in which he raced for a season at Five Mile Point Speedway and was on a pit crew for a number of years. He took pleasure in listening to music, playing guitar, fishing, gardening, umpiring Little League, watching wrestling, and had a great passion for history. He also enjoyed trivia, watching Jeopardy! nightly, and was a Director of the Retta Cemetery Association. But, most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his son, Dustin Marbaker (Jessica Warfle) of Springville, PA and daughter, Lacy Marbaker of Montrose, PA, step-sons Daniel Ramey of Dillsburg, PA and Nathan Ramey of Montrose, PA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brittany Martin, Desiree Marbaker, Payton Marbaker, and Kira Marbaker, and a great-granddaughter, Sophia Martin. He was preceded in death by his father, Clifton Marbaker on September 10, 1998, mother, Betty Wilcox Marbaker on April 11, 2021, and daughter Jessie Lee on September 6, 1997, among several beloved aunts and uncles.
Graveside services will be held at a later date at the Retta Cemetery
Arrangements are entrusted with the Sheldon Funeral Home, 459 Main St., Laceyville, PA. Online condolences may be made at www.SheldonFuneralHomes.com.
