Audrey M. Marbaker, age 89 of Retta, PA passed peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, October 29, 2024 at the Gracious Living Estates in South Montrose, PA.
Audrey was born on April 19, 1935 in Johnson City, NY the daughter of the late Arthur and Bernice (Devine) Knickerbocker. She was a graduate of Johnson City High School with the class of 1953.
Audrey met her husband, Howard Marbaker when they worked at the same awning company. They would marry on June 25, 1955 and raised two children together on the family farm.
She was also employed as a Secretary/Bookkeeper for Kintner's Milling in Meshoppen, PA from 1968 until they closed down. She then moved with Kintner's Milling in Montrose, PA until they closed. Audrey finished her working career at Kintner's Olde Mill and retired when she was 80 years old.
Audrey was a member of the Retta United Methodist Church and now the Retta Community Church. She was a member of the UMW and Chorus at the church. Throughout the years she held various Secretary/Treasurer positions with the Meshoppen Order of the Eastern Star #70, the Retta Cemetery Association, the Red Hatters, and bowling leagues in Wyalusing, Tunkhannock, and South Montrose. She enjoyed puzzles, word searches and playing softball, the piano and board games. She took great pleasure in attending minor league baseball games in Binghamton. Most of all she loved caring for her grandchildren and spending time with family and friends.
Audrey is survived by her children, Alan Marbaker and his wife, Carol and Marie Smith all of Retta, PA; her grandchildren, Nicholas Marbaker, Alicia Smith, Vanessa (Ryan) Leiser, Timothy (Taylor) Marbaker, and Drew (fiancé Malayna) Smith; her great-grandchildren, Beau Smith, Noah Marbaker, and Isabelle Smith; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of almost 40 years, Howard M. Marbaker (d. January 17, 1995), and her brothers, Robert and Gary Knickerbocker.
A Funeral Service for Audrey will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 12:00 noon from the Retta Community Church with her grandson, Pastor Nicholas Marbaker and Lay Speaker Richard Darling both of the church officiating. Interment will follow at the Retta Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Audrey's name to the Retta Cemetery Association, c/o Nicholas Marbaker, 655 Retta Road, Montrose, PA 18801.
