He was a lifelong Michigan fan until the family converted him to a Buckeye. He enjoyed cooking, playing pool with his son, and playing putt putt.
Preceded in death by parents Minnie Ruth Babbert and Charles Thomas Messer, sisters Nancy and Madge, and brother Charlie Boy.
Survived by daughter, Shannon (Delmus) Woody; son, Raymond (Tammy) Messer, Jr.; grandchildren, Jennelle, Brittney, Devon, Derrick, Gregory, Destiny, Kirsten, and Caitlyn; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruthanne, Lucille, and Lorenia; brother, Lee; longtime friend, JB Connor; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Cook & Son-Pallay Funeral Home, 1631 Parsons Ave., where service will follow at 1:00 P.M. Pastor Howard Cameron officiating.
