Raymond Paul Morrow, age 87, of Elizabeth City, NC, passed away at his home on Sunday, April 20, 2025. Born in Sydney, OH, on November 23, 1937, to the late Milan T. Morrow and Mary Mumford Morrow, he was the husband of Joyce Burgess Morrow.
Raymond retired from the USCG as a Chief Petty Officer as a flight engineer for twenty-seven years. He also retired from civil service at the Coast Guard Base. Raymond was a member of the CPOA Club and VFW. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, cooking, and working in his garden. He was an avid NASCAR fan, and his favorite driver was Rusty Wallace.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Terry Simpson (Martin); grandchildren, Josh Simpson (Jennifer) and Katelynn Simpson Claprood (Christopher); and great-grandchildren, Harper Simpson, Haiven Simpson, Haisley Simpson, Tatum Sullivan, and Liam Claprood. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Judy M. Flourney and Carol M. White, both of Georgia; and brothers, Richard Morrow of Indiana and Jerry Morrow of Georgia.
A memorial service with Military Honors will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Twiford Memorial Chapel's Sam A. Twiford Veterans Park, with Reverend Chad Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends and family at the residence at other times.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Corinth Baptist Church, 1035 Highway 17, Elizabeth City, NC 27909.
