Raymond Nicholls, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, in Danbury, CT, at the age of 86. Born in England, Raymond was a man of exceptional skill and creativity, who was always finding things to fix or improve.
Predeceased by his beloved wife, Valerie, his parents, Charles and Catherine Nicholls, and sister Catherine Amuso. Raymond's legacy continues through his loving family. He is survived by his daughters Heather McCaughey (Patrick) Mary Nicholls Gambino (Antonino), and Marion Fox. His sons Richard Fox and Andrew Fox (Elena). His nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The two youngest grandchildren, Liam and Molly, will miss spending time with their "Grampy ".
Raymond proudly served in the British Army, a period of his life that instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie. Once arriving to the United States, he worked at RLC in Mt. Kisco, NY, where he was respected for his precision and work ethic. His colleagues remember him as a man who could be relied upon, both for his skill and his unfailing good humor.
An avid golfer, Raymond spent many happy hours on the greens, a pastime he greatly enjoyed. In his younger years, he and Valerie would travel together, exploring new places and creating a collection of memories that would become the stories he cherished in later years.
Raymond's creativity was not confined to his work; he was also incredibly handy, a trait that made him the go-to person for family and friends whenever something needed fixing or building. His ingenuity led to the creation of many useful and beloved items that remain as testaments to his talent and thoughtfulness.
Those who knew Raymond will remember him as a man who could always be counted on to lend a hand or make you laugh. His dry humor and handyman skills left a mark on the world, that will be sorely missed.
All are welcome to attend a visitation on Thursday, January 23rd from 2-7 PM at the Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home in Mahopac, NY. Private cremation services will follow.
