A time of viewing and visitation to remember and celebrate the life of Raymond Allen "Ray" Reavis will be Sunday, September 21, 2025, from 2-6 in the chapel at DeLozier Funeral Service. Ray passed away at his home in Chelsea on Monday, September 15, 2025.
Ray was born on November 18, 1962, to Richard and Mildred (Kennan) Reavis in Claremore, OK where he spent his life and graduated High School in 1981. He passes on a legacy of rugged independence, resilient character, and diligent work ethic to his 3 children: Carl Reavis of Claremore, Ok, Brittney Reavis of Claremore, Ok, Amey Jones and Husband Thomas Jones of Locust Grove, Ok. He is remembered by his 6 grandchildren: Lexi and Hadley Hayes, Henry Fitzgerald, Hazel, Holden, and Henley Jones.
Ray dedicated his life to being a provider to his family through his diligent work ethic. He tried his hand at many endeavors and found himself following in the footsteps of his father Richard and Brother Rick in the Trucking industry. Ray and Rick made numerous trips hauling wide loads from Centrilift in Claremore to Canada. He took pride in his time on the road and attention to detail. Every truck he drove was in pristine condition due to the countless hours on and off the road ensuring a sharp and clean appearance. Ray also was a first responder and served as a police officer with the Claremore Police Department. He had a hot shot truck tire business in Catoosa for a time and would help anyone that needed it, many times not even letting them pay.
In his later years of life, he enjoyed the serenity of his home and companionship from his dog, Boots. There he spent his time on different projects with his nephew, Dustin Reavis. There was always a new project to be done, or chores to be carried out. Ray was a man who left an impression on those who encountered him and will be remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was the go-to person if you ever had trouble with your vehicle and often could tell you how to fix it by just listening to you tell him what it was doing. Ray was the person that many looked to for life advice. According to his oldest daughter his advice was always the best, even if she didn't take it. When Ray did have free time, he enjoyed drives and listening to old country artists. He watched John Wayne movies and Wheel of Fortune. According to his family he was a huge Vanna White fan.
Ray is also survived by his Sisters Audrey Reavis-Kallenberger and Husband Barry, Raquel Pruitt and Husband Robert, and Karen Reavis. He was a man of action rather than words presenting the presence of an anchor known for his loyalty and dependability. Ray was an avid conversationalist always on the phone with friends or family to catch up, hear the latest news, or share stories of his latest endeavors. He always enjoyed a home cooked meal even from the main street diner finding conversation and camaraderie.
As this cowboy took his last ride, he was preceded in death by his mother Mildred (Kennan) Reavis, Father Richard Reavis, Brother Randy Reavis, and Brother Rick Reavis.
