Raymond P. Sassone, 64, formerly of Yorkville, NY, passed away unexpectedly January 9, 2011, in Orlando, FL. He was born, April 9, 1946, in Rome, NY, a son of Joseph R. and Jennie R. Salce Sassone. Raymond was a graduate of Whitesboro Central High School, and the University of Tennessee. He furthered his education at the University of Albany. Mr. Sassone was self employed as an independent wholesaler with various Florida distributors. He was of the Roman Catholic Faith. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Arthur & Sandy Sassone, Yorkville; cherished niece and nephews, Sommer O'Connor & husband Robert of Tampa, FL, Arthur Sassone & wife Andrea, Clifton Park, NY, and Adam Sassone, Yorkville, NY; his cherished great-nieces and great-nephews, Alexis and Fallon O'Connor, and John, Anthony, Joseph and Nicholas Sassone; three cousins, Mary Joyce Asselta, Michael Sassone, and Rocco Sassone; his God Mother, Victoria Sassone; and numerous friends, including his special friends, Neill and Carol Armstrong of Florida, who were always there for Ray. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Jennie; and by a brother, Joseph Sassone. Visitation will be Thursday, January 27th, 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, Forty Main Street, Whitesboro. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, January 28th, 9:30 a.m., at St. Paul's Church, 16 Park Ave., Whitesboro. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider memorials to the American Heart Association.
