Raymond Wayne Scheer "Wayne", age 86, of Netcong, New Jersey, died on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at his home in Netcong, New Jersey.
Wayne was born in Newton, NJ to the late Henry and Jane Scheer, and was raised in Budd Lake. After graduating high school, Wayne proudly served his country in the Air Force. Following his honorable discharge he entered the workforce, starting at Dover Pocketbook Factory, then Hercules Power Company, before retiring from JCP&L, where he tirelessly worked as a lineman for 31 years until his retirement.
Wayne married the love of his life, Frances in 1964. The pair raised their two daughters in Netcong and were parishioners of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church for many years.
Wayne appreciated the outdoors, he found joy in the simple beauty of nature-fishing New Jersey's ponds and lakes, skiing the slopes of New Jersey, Vermont, and Colorado, and horseback riding.
He often retold stories of his time in Morocco while enlisted in the military, detailing the desert's dramatic contrasts of cold nights and sweltering days. He had a talent for playing the guitar, and a passion for building and flying RC airplanes and sharing his hobby with others in the RC Club at Waterloo.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Frances Scheer.
He is survived by two daughters, Darcee Scheer and Kellie Matullo (Frank Matullo); and two grandchildren, Hudson Matullo and Luca Matullo.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 13 from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Home,
31 Main Street, Netcong, NJ 07857. Following visitation, a Graveside Service will be held at Stanhope Union Cemetery at 12:45 p.m. with burial to follow.
