Raymond Shaum

Raymond Henry Shaum, 73, of Orrville, Ohio went home to his Heavenly Father on November 6, 2025. He courageously fought a 21-month battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born on September 30, 1952 to Harvey & Susanna (VanPelt) Shaum. On October 6, 1973, he married Faye Wenger. Together they built a beautiful life filled with faith, family, and friendship.
Over the years, Ray touched many lives through his work and his warm spirit. He was a life-long farmer and enjoyed the many connections with the community through the agricultural world. In his later years he also did local trucking.
He was a faithful member of Sonlight Chapel where he was called to the ministry at the age of 28. He faithfully served in that role for 38 years. Because of his passion for souls and relationships, he also served on many boards and charitable organizations.
He enjoyed traveling and camping with his family and friends. He especially treasured times with his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered for his gentle Christian spirit and the way is love for the Lord shone naturally through his life, touching all who knew him.
Left to carry on his legacy is his wife, Faye; his daughters, Stephanie (Andrew) Barnhart of Millersburg, OH; Jolene (Doran) Yoder of Killbuck, OH; Trenda (Korwin) Schrock of Kingley, MI; and his son Troy (Sherri) Shaum of Orrville, OH; and 10 grandsons, 6 granddaughters and 1 granddaughter-in-law.
He is survived by 3 brothers and 1 sister; Virgil (Sally) Shaum, Apple Creek OH; Melvin (Dorothy) Shaum, Snover, MI; Kenneth (Arlene) Shaum, Nappanee, IN; and Esther Mae Shaum of Columbiana, OH; 3 sister-in-laws and 1 brother-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters; Jason Shaum, Nelson Shaum, Elvin Shaum, Edith Heatwole, and Kathryn Bender, and 1 brother-n-law Myron Heatwole.
Viewing will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025 from 2-5:00 pm and Monday, November 10, 2025 2-4:00 and 6-8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at 10:00 am all arrangements will be held at the Kidron Mennonite Church, 3987 Kidron Road, Kidron, OH 44636.
