Raymond M. Wagner

Raymond M. Wagner, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at Suncoast Hospice in Pinellas Park, Florida, on July 26, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on June 29, 1951, in St. Petersburg, Florida, he spent his entire life in the Sunshine State, embodying the spirit and warmth of a true Floridian.
Ray was the cherished son of Gudmund Wagner and Evelyn (Lunden) Wagner. He was married to his devoted wife, Jhonda Lee Burton, on February 9, 1974, in a ceremony that celebrated their love and commitment. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, warmth, and enduring companionship.
Ray's legacy is carried on by his three beloved children: Chad Wagner and his wife, Cayce, Corey Wagner, and Haley Williams and her husband, Brad. He was a proud and adoring grandfather to five grandchildren: Chloe, Canyon, Cohen, Berkley, and Carsyn, who brought him immeasurable joy and laughter throughout his life.
A dedicated veteran, Ray served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy. Following his military service, he devoted 35 years to the Pinellas County Highway Division, where he was known for his hard work and dedication. Ray retired in 2007, leaving behind a legacy of commitment and integrity that inspired those around him.
Ray was a man of many talents and interests. He possessed an extraordinary aptitude for woodworking, often taking on projects that enhanced the lives of his family and friends. His ability to tackle any problem-be it building, creating, or repairing-made him a go-to resource for home improvements. His loved ones will fondly remember him for pulling his self-made smoker/grill to gatherings at church, schools, parks, and friends' homes, where he would share delicious meals and laughter.
Ray's zest for life, remarkable work ethic, and kind-hearted nature endeared him to all who knew him. He was a hard-working family man with seemingly endless energy, and his friendly demeanor left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. He will be deeply missed by those who called him Husband, Dad, Papa, Uncle, Neighbor, and Friend.
Ray's life was a testament to love, service, and community. He faced the challenges of final-stage complications of Alzheimer's disease with the same resilience he displayed throughout his life. While the disease may have taken some of his memories, it never diminished the love and joy he brought to his family.
