Rebeca Rodriguez Vargas, 67, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2023 with her loving family and friends by her side. Becky, as she was called by all her siblings, was one of eleven children born to parents Ezequiel and Rebeca Rodriguez. She was a quiet, gentle and kind soul who would not hesitate to help others in need. She liked simple things in life, like watching birds and all small animals. She also had a green thumb and enjoyed plants. Her favorite color was green and her favorite flowers were roses. She worked for many years as a dietary aid at Brookdale/Trinity Towers before deciding to retire. She loved to make homemade handbags and purses, watch novelas and spend time with family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Olivia Villegas and brother, Ignacio Rodriguez. She is survived by her sisters, Rachel Salazar, Lupe Rodriguez, Irene Rodriguez, Micaela Orona, and brothers, Esequiel Rodriguez, David Rodriguez, Greg S. Reed, Ram Rodriguez, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023 at the Winsteads' Funeral Home in Portland, TX. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday Dec. 7, 2023 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Gregory, TX with burial to follow at the Gregory Cemetery.
