Rebecca Sue "Becky" Hanson, age 64, of Ellettsville, passed away peacefully at IU Health Bloomington Hospice House on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. Born on October 28, 1960, in Bloomington, to Carol S. (Gillaspy) May and the late Max J. May, Becky was a bright light in the lives of all who knew her.
Becky flourished throughout her life, graduating from Edgewood High School in 1979, and further enriching her education with college classes at Indiana University. Her professional journey culminated in a rewarding career at the university's IT Department, from which she retired on October 31, 2022, after years of dedicated service. Her love story with Robert "Bob" E. Hanson was one for the ages. The devoted couple celebrated 35 years of marriage, during which they shared countless memories, upholding the values of their Christian faith and a shared zest for life. Becky's spirit of adventure and creativity knew no bounds, engaging in skydiving escapades, camping trips, and mastery in baking, cooking, and crafting. Her wooden cut-out puzzles - roller coasters, Ferris wheels, and intricate buildings - were a testament to her imaginative spirit.
Becky's love extended to her family, including her husband Bob; mother, Carol; brother, Marlin R. May (Connie); sister-in-law, Sharon K. Scrogham (Sonny); and her adored nieces and nephews. Her playful nature and unconditional love were also showered upon her furry companions, Buzzy the Yorkshire Terrier and Benny the Chihuahua/Shih Tzu mix.
Remembered as adventurous, friendly, and endlessly creative, Becky's absence will be deeply felt by her family, friends, and all the lives she touched. Her laughter, love, and the joy she brought to every room will be missed but never forgotten.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring at Becky's request. Share condolences, memories and more with Becky's family by visiting her tribute page at www.chandlerfh.com
