Rebecca Sue Harr, fondly known to all as Granny Becky, left this world on March 13, 2025, in Southaven, MS, after a courageous battle with a lengthy illness. Born on August 24, 1948, in Memphis, TN, she filled the lives of her family and friends with warmth, joy, and a spirit of giving that will forever be cherished.
Over the years, Rebecca made a significant impact through her dedicated career, retiring from Wells Lamont in 2008. Though professional accomplishments were important to her, her proudest achievements were always being a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her daughters, Kathy Smith and Sherry Tanner (Patrick), will forever carry the memories of their mother’s unwavering love, her kind nature, and her remarkable strength.
Family gatherings were a treasure trove of laughter and lasting memories. Rebecca took genuine delight in the simple pleasures of life—whether it was stepping onto her treadmill with her family by her side or sharing a meal with her daughters. She adored spending time outdoors, especially admiring the vibrant springtime flowers and tending to her beloved plants, providing a colorful backdrop to the warmth of her family's love.
Granny Becky was known not only for her nurturing spirit but also for her headstrong personality that endeared her to everyone around her. She was particularly generous to her grandbabies, showering them with affection, attention, and a few delightful spoiling sessions. Her grandchildren—Courtney Powers (Nick), Kelsey Hudson, Hannah Smith (Tay Gant), Colton Smith (Nicole), Clayton Smith, and Kennon Smith—will remember her loving presence and the moments they shared together. The joy continued to grow as she welcomed great-grandchildren: Callie Holmes, Caylex Dyer, Nolan Cox, Nixon Powers, Nadia Cox, Oliver Powers, Olivia Gant, and Isla Smith, each one a bright star in her heart.
Rebecca was not just a devoted family woman; she was also an animal lover who found joy and companionship in her beloved fur baby, Genny. Her siblings, Terry Spence (Clarann) and Carolyn Spencer, will always hold dear the memories of their times together, sharing laughter and creating family traditions.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edwin M. Harr, and her loving parents, O. D. and Celia (Wiley) Spence. Though their physical presence is no longer here, the bonds of love they created remain etched in the hearts of those they left behind.
As we remember Rebecca Sue Harr, we celebrate an enduring legacy of kindness, love, and the beauty she brought into this world. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on through the cherished memories held by her family and friends.
