Rebecca came to live with her foster parents Al and Myrna Blumanhourst from the age of 13 to 19. She then went to work as a dispatcher for Yellow Cab for approximately 2 years and lived in the Des Moines area for about 10 years working as a Nurses Aid in a care home. Rebecca then moved to Chariton, Iowa and was a nanny for 4 children and was a very active member of First Baptist Church in Chariton, IA. She attended Indian Hills Community College gaining an Associates degree in Arts & Sciences.
She also attended Buena Vista University in Ottumwa, Iowa, majoring in psychology and graduating with a Bachelor's degree. She moved to Cromwell, Iowa and worked several years as a foster care counselor with children and their parents. She also worked in the Wal-Mart deli in Osceola, Iowa until she had to resign due to health reasons. She then moved to Stuart, Iowa about 8 years ago and lived the last 9 months at the Community Care Center there.
Rebecca was a very jovial gal and loved her family and friends deeply. She tried to show the love of Jesus in her daily life. Rebecca loved to do crafting & crocheting. She loved animals. Especially her cat Albie and dog Sam. She also loved cooking and watching her Food Network shows.
She is survived by her mother Myrna Garcia (Chris), brothers Eric Blumanhourst (Aja), Glenn Blumanhourst, Uncle Kenneth Waldron, Aunt Deborah Bessett and many other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

My sweet nana. I always wanted to reconnect with you so that you could see where I made in life and meet my children. I guess I just got busy to realize what was important. You would have been so proud of me. I followed my childhood dream and have been a Firefighter for a long time. I have three beautiful children that would have adored you. I will forever regret not making time to see you again or trying to contact you. The heavens have gained one of the most beautiful souls I have ever known and I hope you will look down and watch over me and my family.
