Rebecca Anne Tackett, affectionately known as Becky, passed away on August 22, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and care for children. Born on September 25, 1952, she dedicated her life to caring for, raising, and teaching children at daycares, and then in her home. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her professional life as she also played a pivotal role in helping raise her nieces and nephews. It was evident that Becky had a remarkable way with kids - they were naturally drawn to her, and she formed a special bond with each child she cared for.

After Becky graduated from A.G. Parish High School. She started working for Leika's until an opportunity arose to care for children at her own home. She embraced this calling wholeheartedly and became an integral part of the lives of many families in the community.

Becky was a life-long night owl. For her last nine years at Park Place, she kept the night shift nurses on their toes. Despite struggling with dyslexia, Becky possessed an incredible memory - she never forgot a name, a face, or a birthday. Her ability to remember and acknowledge these details endeared her even more to those whose lives she touched.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Louis Tackett; mother, Esther Pearl Cooper Tackett; brother, Stephen Wood Tackett; nephew, Adam Louis Griffin; brother-in-law, Edward L. Griffin and great-niece, Merritt Katherine Parris.

She is survived by her sisters, Elizabeth Tackett Griffin and Teresa Tackett (Dennis) Willett; aunt, Ruth Stephens; nieces and nephews, Cade Hunter, Cooper Hunter, Julia Griffin (Matthew) Parris, Elizabeth Griffin (Michael) Clark; great-nieces and nephews, Emily Hunter, Sam Hunter, Jackson Anderson, Cort Ousley, Benry Parris, Tyson Parris, Alexis Parris, and Ellis Clark; great-great niece, Wrenley Powell and cousins, Angela (Bill) Allen, Julie Stephens, Jane Stephens, Bill (Mary) Van Tassel and Art (Joyce) Mawhinney.

Becky's visitation will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023 at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home in Selma between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Her graveside service will follow on Saturday, August 26th at 10:00 a.m. Marion Junction Community Cemetery with Rev. Guy Anderson officiating.

Becky's unwavering dedication to children and her ability to form lasting connections with those around her have left an undeniable impact on the lives of many. She will be remembered for her warm heart, infectious humor, and genuine love for children. As we say goodbye to this remarkable woman who brought so much joy to the world around her, let us also cherish the memories she leaves behind.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Becky's honor to Children’s of Alabama Foundation. Let us continue her legacy of nurturing the young lives that meant so much to her.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the administrators, nurses, and staff at Park Place Nursing Home, who all became an integral part of Becky's family.
