Rebecca Joan "Bekki Jo" Blaine-Gros Ventre, 54 of No Water, was hosted by a group of angels to lead her home on Sunday, March 2, 2025. She was a direct descendant of Chief Pretty Eagle and Shot in the Hand.
Bile Xakaalawe "Sacred Running Water" a Crow name given to her by her late grandfather Theodore "Ted" Bear Cloud, was born on December 22, 1970, in Crow Agency to Mary Angela Blaine.
She was adopted and raised by Myrtle and Warren "Joe" Blaine in the No Water district, graduating from Lodge Grass High School in 1989. She lived and attended school in Tucson, AZ with her maternal aunt and uncle Veronica Rose Blaine-Chesarek and uncle Steve. In 1977-78, she attended elementary school in Albuquerque, NM, and she was fluent in Spanish. She later attended school in Bozeman while her mothers Mary, Rose, and Fatima were students at MSU-Bozeman. Bekki later returned to No Water to attend high school in Lodge Grass. While in school, she was active in girls basketball, earning All-Conference and All-State honors her junior and senior years. She was a cheerleader for boys basketball, she played volleyball, ran track, and a Crow Traditional dancer with the Indian Club, being named Princess as well as being a district princess for the Aasbicheetche district and a member of the FFA. She was a member of the Student Council for LGHS. She was also a clarinet player of the high school band during the Lodge Grass Indians State Championship run of 1988 and 1989. She was active with various youth rodeos and was a well-known barrel racer, winning many awards. She was a devoted member of the Catholic Church, an active member of the sweat lodge ceremonies, member of the Greasy Mouth clan and child of Ties the Bundle. After education, she joined the workforce and was employed at various establishments and various tribal programs such as Clerk of Court, Social Service until she located and secured her dream job with Nemont Telephone in 2007 to present. She enjoyed working for Nemont and developed many great relationships with the employees of Nemont. She enjoyed providing great customer service to the local community members that were in the service area of Nemont Telephone. She was also honored to be Godmother to 5 children. She was affectionately known as "Sister" and was called and referred that by many. Bekki had a special way of befriending many people and with these amazing friendships grew into amazing brothers and sisters.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents Warren Joe, Sr. and Myrtle Bear Cloud Blaine; her mother Mary Angela Blaine; her uncles Joseph Bear Cloud, Benedict Blaine, Sr., and Warren Blaine, Jr.; and her aunt Veronica Rose Chesarek.
Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Albert Gros Ventre, Sr.; her children Wyndell James (Janteesa), Angel Rozina Nicole (Robert), Patrick Jarvis Big Lake (Venetia), Albert, JR. "Shikaakkaate" (Tanessa). She raised Jaden, Jada Jadelynn, and Jaron Blaine-Broken Rope. She took in a great number of her nephews and nieces as her own. Her auntie-moms Fatima (Tom) Crazy Mule, Christine (Patrick) Big Lake, Sr., Rena, Annie, Martha Blaine, Janice Gets Down Often, Veronica Small-Eastman, Ann, Jessica, Andrea Costa, Christine Bear Cloud, Joni, Rhonda, Trivian Horn, Rita Shane, Zelma Bell, Karen Watembach. Her brothers Brian Pretty Eagle, Ted, Tyler Chesarek, Moses Yellowrobe, David R.
