Rega C. Toscano, 96, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Elderwood at Liverpool. Born in Jamesville, NY, Rega lived a full and meaningful life devoted to her family, faith, and community. She was a proud retiree of both the Syracuse City School District and NY Telephone, where she formed many lifelong friendships.
A longtime communicant of St. Daniel's Church, Rega's faith was an anchor throughout her life. She was a devoted mother and grandmother whose greatest joy came from gathering her family around the table for Sunday dinners. These cherished meals were more than just food, they were an expression of her love, care, and the warmth she brought to all who knew her. Rega's legacy lives on through the values she instilled in her family and the memories she leaves behind.
She was predeceased by her husband, Louis Toscano; daughter, Carmella Toscano; her parents and four brothers.
Rega is survived by her daughters, Mary (Jeffery) Hochstuhl and Louise (John) Savo; grandchildren, Sarah (Matt) Furlong, Emily Schafer, Jessica Savo, and Johnny (Melinda) Savo; great-grandchildren, Louis, Dominick, Starlyn, Danaria, and Scarlet; several nieces and nephews. The family expresses their deepest gratitude to her loving caretakers at Elderwood at Liverpool where she was gently cared for.
A funeral Mass to honor Rega's life will be held on Wednesday, September 10th, 10 a.m. at St. Daniel's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Rega will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 10th, prior to the funeral Mass, from 9:30 a.m.-10 a.m. at St. Daniel's Church.
