Regenia "Jeanie" Lee Newnum, aged 78, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on November 15, 2025. Born on September 28, 1947, in Caneyville, Kentucky, Jeanie was a beloved mom, nana, sister, aunt, and friend. Her warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Jeanie cherished spending time with her family, whether it was sharing a meal, playing cards, or creating delicious treats such as banana pudding and her famous chocolate and coconut pies. She had a passion for travel, visiting every state in the U.S., and she enjoyed the camaraderie of her friends during weekly bunco games and yard sales.
She was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Preston) Woosley and was preceded in death by her father, John T. Woosley, her mother, Helen Marie Woosley, and her son, Sandy Boyd.
Jeanie is survived by her loving daughters, Tammy Boyd, Carrie L. (Stephanie) Newnum, and Tarri D. (Travis) Darnall, along with her bonus daughters, Sherry (James) Lawrence and April (Brandon) Wilson. She was a proud nana to Tristian, Hailey (Macy), Noah, Hunter, and Bracher, and a great-grandmother to Cole, Aili, and Asher. Jeanie also leaves behind her beloved sisters, Doris Morris, Rita Crain, Debbie Newnum, and Peggy Jump, in addition to a wide circle of family and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
A visitation to honor Jeanie's life will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions – Southwest Louisville Chapel, located at 10304 Dixie Hwy. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 5:00 PM.
