Regina M. Kirby, of Oreland, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. She was 77 years old. Jeannie, as she was known to her family and friends, was born on September 12, 1946 to the late James Keane and Mary (née Somers) Keane. She was the wife to James W. Kirby, Sr. with whom she is survived by.
Jean grew up in the Olney section of Philadelphia, where she attended Incarnation of our Lord parish school and then Cardinal Dougherty High School. It was during her childhood that Jean was introduced to Ocean City, NJ, where she created many memories with her siblings, cousins and friends.
In 1969, Jean married Jim Kirby and together they raised their five children in Olney. She was a staple at the ball fields, courts and the 3rd & 4th Street driveways, always adopting a welcoming presence for the countless friends and teammates of her kids. Jean also continued her love of Ocean City, vacationing every year with her family. Being "down the shore" every year led to lifelong friendships for her and her kids that survived for decades and will continue to grow and expand along with her legacy.
In addition to her husband, children and Ocean City, Jeannie's latest and greatest love was being "Mom-Mom" to her eleven grandchildren. From birthdays, made up games of memory and chance, to Sunday dinners and holiday gatherings, nothing gave her greater joy than to be with her grandchildren and to hear about their latest achievements and experiences. She loved them above all else.
With her husband, Jean is survived by her children: James W. Kirby, Jr. (Tracy), Patrick M. Kirby, Sr. (Lorie), Christopher J. Kirby, Sr. (Megan), Janine M. Kirby, Brian M. Kirby, her grandchildren: Nicole Kirby, Callie Kirby, Patrick M. Kirby, Jr., Caroline Kirby, Cassidy Kirby, Nicholas Kirby, Aidan Kirby, James W. Kirby III, Catherine Kirby, Sophia Conenna, and Christopher J. Kirby, Jr., and four siblings: John Keane, James Keane, Mary Detwiler and Patricia O'Malley. She was predeceased by two sisters: Sr. Margaret "Peggy" Keane, SSJ and Therese Breslin.
