Regina Jakulis Szabo ObituaryRegina Jakulis Szabo, age 55, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025, after a valiant fight, surrounded by the love of her family.
Regina was the devoted wife of Steve Szabo and the cherished mother of Lukán Szabo, who was the light of her life. Born to Eugene and Patricia Jakulis on January 5, 1970, Regina was raised in Willoughby, Ohio, where she built the foundation of her lifelong kindness, faith, and compassion-qualities that would define her throughout her life. She was a beloved daughter whose warmth, humor, and generosity enriched every life she touched.
She was the dear sister of Andrea (nee Jakulis) (Jim) Hodkey and Donna Jakulis; and sister-in-law of Elizabeth and Robert Manning, Imre and Carolyn Szabo, and Victoria and Steve Konig. She will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews: Jeff (Randall) Manning, Kelly Egloff, Bryant Szabo, Emily Konig, Lauren Konig, Natalie Konig, Lauren Hodkey, Olivia Hodkey, Jenna Hodkey, Leah Hodkey, Jackson Hodkey, Fiona Szabo, Sylvia Szabo, Addison Egloff, and Tyson Egloff each of whom brought her great joy and pride.
Regina's life was defined by her deep love for her family, her unwavering strength, and her ability to make everyone feel welcomed and cared for. She had an infectious laugh, a kind spirit, and a heart that gave freely to those around her. Whether spending time with loved ones, cheering for Lukán's accomplishments, or simply sharing stories that made others smile, Regina filled every moment with grace and love.
Regina was preceded in death by her grandparents Alfonso and Leona Caputo, Zigmas and Eugenia Jakulis and her in-laws Imre and Victoria Szabo.
Family and friends will be received from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025, at the McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center Street, Mentor, Ohio. Prayers for Regina will begin at 6:15 p.m.

I first met Regina, or "G", as I knew her, three years ago. She was my pottery teacher and mentor at Kentucky Mudworks, where she was very much beloved. G was endlessly talented, kind, and uplifting. Over the years, we formed a genuine bond, and her presence and encouragement at the studio played a major role in why I continued to take classes. My classmates and I truly adored G. In between helping students, we would talk and share stories and updates about our lives. Through our Monday night classes, we shared, celebrated, and grieved our highs and lows. Over the years she watched me get engaged, change jobs, and get married. She loved hearing us gossip about our silly antics, friend drama, or bad dates. We loved hearing her stories about Lukan and how she fell in love with her husband. We especially enjoyed her anecdotes about her cat, whom we all told her she would grow to adore, despite her initial skepticism (and we were right!). When her cancer returned we all wept alongside her. Despite the cards she was dealt, G was resilient. She didn't let the disease dampen her spirit. I will miss her dearly and the studio will not be the same without her. There is a piece of G in everything I make and will make in the future. She made a lasting impact on me that I will carry for my entire life.
