Reverend Reggie Carr
January 20,1957 to October 22, 2025
Reginald (Reggie) Bernard Carr was born January 20, 1958, to the late Velda and Grady Carr in Oakland CA. Reggie was the fourth of seven children. Reggie was educated in the Berkeley and Richmond Schools. Graduating from El Cerrito High School in 1975. While attending high school he was a Varsity Wrestler. After high school Reggie studied auto mechanics Alameda College.
While growing up Reggie and his brothers loved playing sports, going to see movies, playing cards and board games. Reggie and his brothers loved the Raiders, Golden State Warriors and San Francisco Giants. When they were together the sports talk/debate never ended. Reggie and his brother Kelvin would often travel to California just to see the Warriors and Raiders games. Reggie's other interest were softball, golfing, fishing, hunting and shooting for sport. Reggie loved cars, especially his gold Trans Am with the Eagle on the hood. Apart of planning for his retirement he purchased his shiny red Camaro to enjoy in California. Reggie loved driving that Camaro around the San Francisco Bay Area to enjoy sights.
Lastly, he loved movies, the more action the better.
In 1976 Reggie accepted Jesus Christ as his lord and personal Savior. Reggie moved to Anchorage Alaska in 1977 where he joined New Hope Baptist Church and later Shiloh Baptist Church. While in Alaska Reggie was welcomed by many Brothers and Sisters in Christ the he loved and that loved and supported him. Reggie received his call to ministry in 1986. Reggie was joined the Men's Choir, Brothers Ministry and participated and many church events. After returning to California, he joined and attended Friendship Baptist Church in Vallejo CA until he his health begin to fail.
Reggie worked for AT&T Alascom for close to 40 years retiring in 2018 and returning home to California. Reggie's many friends at AT&T commented that he had a great smile, contagious laugh, great sense of humor and was a prankster at work.
Reggie was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Grady Carr Jr, Fernandez Newman and sister Myrtle Holt.
Reggie leaves many memories to his brother Kelvin Carr and sisters Cassandra Melissaratos and Kam Gardner. Nephews, Dalon Johnson, Theo Rozone Stowe, Che Holts, Bradley Carr and nieces Tara Newman, Kisa Johnson, Kindra Stowe, Chaunice Carr and Adriane Gardner, great nephew Jaylen Stevens, Miles Stowe, great nieces Raina Stowe, Luna Stowe, A host of cousins, friends and his many Brothers and Sisters in Christ.
