Reginald Harris

Reginald Harris passed away on September 17, 2025, at the age of 87. He was born on May 5, 1938, to Henry Harris, Sr., and Dorothy Edmonson Harris in New Orleans, LA. He was a proud graduate of Joseph S. Clark High School; received a Bachelor's Degree from Xavier University and a Master's Degree from the University of New Orleans. He enjoyed a career as an Administrator at the New Orleans Skills Training Center and as an English and Spanish teacher at several New Orleans public schools and St. Augustine High School. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Merle Ann Triche Harris; and his four daughters: Dr. Leslie M. Harris, Jennifer H. Jones (Shane), Retired Judge Regina Bartholomew-Woods (Jimmie) and Rachel T. Harris. He is also survived by his 5 grandsons: Capt. David Bartholomew, IV (USAF), Ryan Jones, Reginald Bartholomew, Devin Jones and Jimmie Woods, Jr.; his brothers Melvin Harris, John Harris and Lionel Harris; his sisters Betty Ann Harris and Barbara Ann Harris; his two goddaughters: Tiffany Benjamin and Kristen Howard, Esq.; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Joyce Harris Guy and Ernestine Harris Jackson, and his brothers Henry Harris, Jr., Herbert Harris, and Charles Harris. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life at a Catholic Funeral Mass on Friday, September 26, 2025, for 11:00 a.m. at St. Martin de Pores Church, 5621 Elysian Fields Ave., N.O., LA. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 a.m., and conclude with the Rosary at 10:45 a.m. Fr. Howard Byrd, SSJ, Officiating. Interment will follow at St. Louis #3 Cemetery, 3421 Esplanade Ave. N.O., LA.
