Reginald Bernard Reese, affectionately known as Reggie, Reg, Red or Redman, was a beacon of humble strength, and a dedicated, reliable figure to his family and his community. Born in
Memphis, TN, on July 2, 1960, he carried a piece of his southern roots with him throughout his life, even as he made his home in
Las Vegas, Nevada. As Albert Einstein once said, "Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile." This quote was embodied by Reginald, who lived his life in service to others. Reginald was a 1979 graduate of Haywood High School, Brownsville, TN. He joined the United States Air Force. After his Military career, he was a dedicated employee of the United Postal Service. He obtained an Associate Degree while attending El Camino College, in CA. He was a faithful son, brother, uncle, then as a loyal friend, finally as a steadfast postal employee for over 36 years.
Reginald was a man who understood the value of hard work and dedication. His unwavering loyalty to the US Postal Service was recognized with Service Awards in 2014, 2019, and 2020. Even after his retirement in June 2022, he held onto the memories of years spent helping to connect people through the simple act of delivering mail. Reginald had a unique ability to find joy in the ordinary, a trait that was reflected in his hobbies. From watching his favorite TV shows like WWE wrestling, old western movies, and classic sitcoms like Goodtimes and Sanford and Son, to his love for the Food Channel and the show Man vs Food, he had an infectious enthusiasm that touched those around him.
Family gatherings were the heart of Reginald's world. He is survived by his significant other, Thelma Smartt, his sister, Jacquelyn King (Murry), and brother, Rev.Dr. James T. Farmer, Jr(Jamonica). His neices,
Amena Brown Owens, Jayme Brown, Jaszmine Farmer, and Nikole Brown. Nephews, Robert Durant, Kelsey Taylor, James Brown Jr, and Dwayne Harris. Aunt, Phyllis P. Arnold and other family members and friends. Reginald was preceded in death by his father Melvin Reese, his mother Susie Farmer, and his brothers, Christopher Farmer and Kenneth Reese, niece, Keneka Reese Carver. Grandparents, Robert and Callie Peterson. His family will remember Reginald as a humble, reliable, and dedicated individual whose loyalty was unwavering.
