Reginald Sutton Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 29, 2025.
Reginald Ricardo Sutton, affectionately known as "Smooth Reg" and "Snake," was born on January 16, 1961, and peacefully departed this world on March 21, 2025. He leaves behind a legacy of creativity, passion, and love that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.
From his early days walking the halls of Horace Mann Jr. High and Parkview High School, Reggie discovered his profound passion for storytelling. His remarkable ability to weave words into captivating narratives, both written and spoken, touched the lives of many. Friends and family fondly recall his engaging tales, often shared through his vibrant social media presence. This love for storytelling propelled him to pursue a degree in Radio, TV, and Film at the University of Arkansas Little Rock and the University of Houston, culminating in both a BA and MA from the University of North Texas. One of his proudest achievements was producing the thought-provoking film "A Day in the Life of a Six Foot Black Man," a project that showcased his talent and dedication to his craft. He went on to produce many more projects though his company Suttonsphere.
As the landscape of media evolved, Reggie adeptly transitioned into the digital realm, ultimately serving as the Executive Director of Digital Production at Dieste/Omnicom. His unwavering commitment to his work was evident, as he continued to contribute even during his time in the hospital, laptop in hand, demonstrating his relentless spirit and dedication.
Reggie was not only a talented professional but also a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi-Eta Lambda at the University of Houston, where he held various leadership roles. After relocating to the Dallas Fort Worth area, he became an member of the Mansfield Cedar Hill Alumni Chapter, fostering connections and friendships that enriched his life.
A lover of sports, history, movies, and R&B/Funk music-especially the timeless sounds of Earth, Wind and Fire-Reggie found joy in the simple pleasures of life. However, his greatest pride and joy came from his children, Alaina Nicole Curry and Hamilton Christopher Sutton. He cherished every moment spent with them and celebrated their accomplishments with immense pride.
Reginald is preceded in death by his beloved brother Bruce Pippins, father Marcus Sutton, and mother Fannie Pippins Sutton. He is survived by his devoted daughter Alaina, son Hamilton, sister Miyosha Sutton Guinn, brother-in-love Keenan Guinn, and a host of nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and countless friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
As we remember Reginald Ricardo Sutton, let us celebrate a life well-lived-a life filled with creativity, love, and an unwavering commitment to family and friends. His spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him, and his legacy will live on through the stories he shared and the love he gave.

Reginald was an interesting soul. He was very entertaining and very giving. I called him my home boy when we attended the University of Houston. We attended rival high schools which always made interesting conversations during the rides from Little Rock to Houston and from Houston to Little Rock. He will be missed. I will miss the stories and his experiences he shared on social media. He had some encounters. Rest on my friend.
