Reginald Victor Thompson

Reginald Victor Thompson, 84 died June 12th 2024 at his residence after a long illness.  He was born November 2, 1939 at Cary Memorial Hospital. He was the son of Albina (Ouellette) and Dan Thompson.  

Reginald joined the Maine Army National Guard during sophomore year of high school. Retiring 37 years later with rank of Sergeant First Class. During high school aside from being a student and guardsmen, Reggie was a talented athlete, playing basketball for Caribou Vikings.  After high school he took part in a community all-star exhibition game and was asked to join the house of David Team, similar to Harlem globe trotters a traveling team. This was short lived since he was a hometown boy at heart.

Reggie worked for numerous area businesses before making a lifetime career at the Aroostook Republican, as an Advertising Representative.  He eventually moved up to position of General Manager of the local paper.  His career lasted 32 years before he retired.  After retirement he often filled in at the Aroostook Republican where he was well known by many customers. Reggie was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Diane (Killmyer) Thompson, his mother and father, Albina and Dan Thompson and brother Gerald Ouellette.  He is survived by his three daughters, Deborah Corrigan (Caribou), Denise and Jon Hamlin (Caribou), Lisa and Steve McDuffie (South Portland) who have given him several grandchildren, Ryan Corrigan and wife Ginny, Kyle Corrigan and wife Jamie, Nicole Benham and husband Erik, Courtney Saucier and husband Brian, Sara Hamlin, Joshua and Jordan McDuffie.  Eight Great Grandchildren, Owen, Quinn and Lydia Corrigan, Lainey and Lexi Corrigan, Acadia Benham, Grayson and Bodie Saucier. Two brothers Roger, Galen Thompson and wife Betty, many nieces and nephews and a special friend Marena Lagerstrom.

Reggie was a loving husband and father, family was everything.  He took pride in bragging about his grandkids and great grandkids.  If you were looking for Reggie, you could always find him at the sporting events watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren.   They were the light of his life; he took pride in the upkeep of the pool for the family as well as friends.  In his free time, Reggie also enjoyed golfing with his wife and spending hours at the casino making many friends.  

He was social and he will forever be remembered for his smile, infectious laugh, witty humor and genuine personality.  His friends describe him as a kind and caring individual.  He will be forever missed.

Friends are invited to visit with the family at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, on Monday, June 17, 2024 from 12PM until 1:45PM. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2PM at the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery.
