Renée Teeple Obituary

Renée Overstreet Teeple, 78, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 7, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in Savannah, GA.

Renée was born on April 4, 1947, to Heyward and Elizabeth Overstreet in Savannah, GA. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville, FL in 1965. She attended Piedmont Hospital School of Nursing in Atlanta, GA and graduated in 1968 as a Registered Nurse. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1981 from Armstrong State College. Renée later went on to get her Master of Science in Nursing from Armstrong State University/Georgia Southern University in 1981.

In December of 1968, Renée was set up on a blind date with Michael James Teeple. It was a perfect match, and they were later married on May 10, 1970. They established their home on Fennel Street in Thunderbolt, GA and never left. They raised two children, Jennifer and Michael, and all were avid members of Nativity Church and School and later St Peter the Apostle Church.

Renée held many positions in the nursing field. She was a labor and delivery nurse at Memorial Hospital and St. Joseph's Hospital and taught childbirth classes at St. Joseph's. She helped integrate computers at St. Joseph's and later digital medical charts at Memorial. She worked Memorial day surgery for several years (which was odd since she was NOT a morning person). She retired as a physician practice manager for Memorial, managing several locations and physicians (and personalities). During her career, Renée worked with many amazing people that became close friends over the years.

Renée is proceeded in death by her parents, Heyward and Elizabeth Overstreet. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Mike Teeple, her children Jennifer Mountjoy (Gary) and Michael Teeple (Catharine), her sister Kay Overstreet, her four grandchildren Sarah and Connor Mountjoy and Michael and Jack Teeple, her nephews Ryan Comer, Matthew Comer (Michelle) and Andrew Comer.

A Christian wake will be held on Thursday, July 10th at 5pm followed by a visitation until 7pm at Fox and Weeks Islands Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, July 11th at 10am at St Peter the Apostle Church followed by burial at Greenwich Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Renée's name can be made to St. Vincent's Academy, Benedictine Military School or St. Peter the Apostle School and Church.
