Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory (43rd St. Chapel) - Bradenton on Feb. 2, 2026.
Renate Marie Williams (known as "Rena" or "Reni" to many), a steadfast servant of God and a beacon of love to all who knew her, was called home to her eternal rest on January 31, 2026. She transitioned peacefully in
Bradenton, FL, at Finding Hope Home Care after a courageous battle with dementia, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and unconditional love.
Born on May 18, 1942, in the beautiful country of Poland, Rena's journey through life was marked by her unwavering faith and her love for her family. After escaping from Poland to Germany with her parents during WWII, Rena learned the German language in only six months' time, demonstrating grit and perseverance in the face of many odds. These same qualities of strength, alongside her faith, helped carry her through difficult times she faced in her adulthood.
Rena's life was a testament to her Christian values, which guided her every step. She dedicated 24 years of her life to the Brevard County Libraries as a Library Technician, where she not only managed books, but also touched the lives of countless patrons with her warm smile and helpful spirit. Renate retired in November 2020, leaving behind colleagues who admired her and community members who were grateful for her assistance and kindness.
Music was one of Renate's most cherished interests. She found joy in the melodies of The Temptations, The Jackson 5, Elvis Presley, and Diana Ross. Her love for hymns was profound, reflecting her deep connection to her faith.
Rena's favorite Bible verse, Psalm 46:10, "Be still, and know that I am God," was a source of immense comfort and strength for her, especially during her final years. Her devotion to reading the Bible and praying, not just for herself but for others, was a hallmark of her character. Rena never knew a stranger and always would tell people she loved them and how beautiful they were.
Rena's family was the heart of her world. She is survived by her loving daughter, Christina Lewis; her son-in-law, Steven Lewis; and her adored grandsons, Josiah and Caleb Lewis. Each of them was a precious gift from God, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Rena's selflessness and unconditional love have profoundly shaped their lives, and her spirit will continue to live on through them.
Those who knew Rena would describe her as loving, faith-filled, and persistent. Her life was a living example of her beliefs, and she faced every challenge with grace and determination. Rena's impact on the world was one of gentle strength and unwavering commitment to her principles.
As we bid farewell to Renate Marie Williams, we celebrate a life well-lived, a faith well-kept, and a love that will echo through the ages. We take solace in the knowledge that she is now at peace, rejoicing in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Renate's memory will forever be cherished as we hold onto the lessons she imparted and the love she freely gave. We honor her legacy by continuing to walk in the light of Christ, as she so beautifully did.
A memorial service will be held to honor Renate on February 13, 2026, at 6:30PM at the Chapel at First Baptist Church Merritt Island, 140 Magnolia Avenue, Merritt Island, Florida, 32952.
