Rene Bernier Obituary

Rene Bernier, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, peacefully departed this world on November 25, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was reunited in eternal peace with his cherished wife of 41 years, Delores Bernier, his parents Rene and Jeannette Bernier, and his brother Richard Bernier.
At the age of eight, Rene was diagnosed with spinal meningitis, a challenge that resulted in his loss of hearing. However, this setback never hindered his spirit for growth and learning. He attended the School for the Deaf in Randolph, Mass., and after graduating from high school, pursued his passion for barbering. For over three decades, Rene dedicated himself to his craft, cutting hair in his hometown of Sanford, ME. Beyond his profession, he was an avid sports enthusiast, finding joy in cheering for the Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins, and the Green Bay Packers.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted brothers Raymond, Ralph, Ron, Roy, and Robert, along with his children James Bernier of Pembroke, NH, and Bonnie Bernier of Saco, ME. He was a proud father-in-law to Suzanne Bernier of Pembroke, NH, and a loving grandfather to Ashlee Fournier of Northfield, NH, and Scott Bernier of Sanford, ME. Rene also leaves behind a legacy through his five great-grandchildren.
Rene's legacy lives on through the love he shared, the lessons he imparted, and the indelible mark he left on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Rene will be held in June.

I was heartbroken to learn of Rene´s passing. Rene was a sweet and gentle man, who loved his family tremendously. He was extremely proud of his son, Jim, especially on how hard he worked and the difficult job that he held.
Rene was also very charming and a bit of a flirt! These qualities served him well while living at Pine Point Center, especially with the female staff. All he had to do was smile and wink, and whatever he wanted, he got! (He especially loved to request donuts from Dunkin Donuts!)
I feel very lucky to have known Rene. He will truly be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
