Rene Ernest Longley

ENOSBURG FALLS - Rene E. Longley, age 56, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones at his home in Enosburg Falls

He was born on September 28, 1968 in St. Albans to Richard Longley & Patricia (Baker) Longley.

Rene was a force of nature - a rambunctious spirit who embraced life's adventures with a zest that few could match. Growing up, Rene stood out as the toughest amongst his siblings, always the heart of their escapades. Whether it was using a car hood as a sled, installing a steering wheel on a bike, or even manure surfing on the farm, he was always up for the next big thrill. This tenacity and fearless nature followed him into adulthood, where his career as a heavy equipment mechanic showcased his remarkable talent. Known far and wide as the best engine man around, Rene's work ethic and dedication were admired by many, with customers traveling from all corners for his expertise.

While Rene was a workaholic for most of his life, everything changed when his granddaughter, Brinley, arrived. She brought light into his life, after little Rene passed, that softened his relentless drive. When Rene committed to something, he would see it through, no exceptions. His spirit will forever be remembered by his loved ones.

He is survived by his soul mate, Carrie Deuso; his son, Josh Longley and his wife Amber; grandchildren, Khaled Fournier, Kallie Longley, Brinley Longley, Amelia Longley, and Teghan Longley; parents, Richard Longley and Patricia Longley; siblings, Lori Paradee and her husband Jay, Leisa Leclair and her husband Fred, Leandra Longley and her partner Danny Fitzgerald, Louise Jacobs and her husband Roger Jr., Rick Longley and his wife Carrie, and Roy Longley and his wife Jane; in-laws, William & Susan Deuso; siblings-in-law, Billie Jo Draper and her husband Gary, and Nick Deuso and his wife Kiley; and several nieces & nephews including Robert Paradee, Brent Paradee, Kyrielle Deuso, Kaden Deuso, Melissa Parrotte, Jessica Boomhower, Vickie Irish, Betsy Garrow, Jamie Jacobs, Ashley Longley, Jason Longley, Ashley Jacobs, Kelsey Jacobs, Sarah Fitzgerald, Danielle Fitzgerald, and Brandon Longley. Rene was predeceased by his son, Rene L. Longley; and a special nephew, Cody Paradee.

In keeping with Rene's wishes, there will be no public services for him.
